Designing Interiors Around Mountain Views
One Colorado family’s vacation home becomes their primary residence
Our clients, an east coast-based couple, spent years vacationing with their family in the Roaring Fork Valley. But it took the pandemic (like many other secondary homeowners) to convince them to plant their roots year-round in their Colorado mountain home.
Their Carbondale home is now their primary residence and a gathering place for their growing family to come together during the holidays, ski season, and for summer getaways. Over the past two years, the homeowners worked closely with the Cathers Home Interior Design team to transform the mountain traditional home to a softer, lighter and brighter, mountain transitional aesthetic while showcasing their amazing 360-degree views of the mountains.

Designed with Nature as the Main Inspiration
The main design goal was to keep the mountain views as the focus, with the interior furnishings and lighting designed to pull in the outside scenery. In the great room, the colors from the rug reflect the blue in the sky and natural earth tones. The surrounding pieces keep a soft tonal color palette while incorporating plaid and leather accents. Large floor-to-ceiling windows frame the calm mountain retreat environment inside and draw the eye outward to the magnificent view.
