1. Sit In It the Way You Sit In a Sofa at Home

In fact, we encourage you to take your time, sit down in several different styles of couches, and RELAX! We have an espresso machine in our store, so you can truly sink down into that deep cushion leather couch and sip your espresso. If you almost fall asleep, we might suggest you've found the right kind of couch!

As you test the couch, sit in different positions. Do you tuck your feet up on the cushion? Do you lie down on the couch for a quick nap? Do you lean an elbow on the side as you watch television? Do you plump up the cushions before you sit down? Feel free to test-drive our couches! In fact, take your whole family along and have them test out your top picks, too. A couch is an important investment, and your purchase should not be a snap decision.

2. Consider the Type of Fabric You Need

Our staff knows all about the advantages and disadvantages of certain fabrics, so go ahead and pick their brains. As you are sitting in different types of sofas, ask yourself if the fabric is too slippery or too heavily textured. Do you like the feel of it as you shift around on the seat? Some of our sofa fabrics are stain-resistant and easy to clean. Others are wrinkle resistant. Let our staff know if your couch will be used by children and/or pets, so we can help you find durable upholstery that will be right for your home.

3. Measure, and Then Measure Again

Your new sofa needs to fit in your room. Measure the area that you want your sofa to fill. Measure length, width, and height. We sell sofas and sectionals in many different sizes, so we are prepared to furnish your large open living room or your small study with just enough space along the wall for a love seat. You will also want to measure all the spaces your sofa needs to go through to get to its room, such as doorways and stairways. Our delivery people are excellent at installing couches, but with smaller spaces, you may need to consider a couch with removable parts.

The depth of the couch cushion is also something to consider. Some sofas are meant for sitting in upright and some are made for lounging. How deep do you want your cushion to be?
